President's Ramble
Membership fees
2017/18 membership invoices and senior tennis interclub fees have now been issued and many have been paid already – thank you!
The prompt payment discount applies if the fee is paid in full by 30 September 2017, so don’t forget to take advantage of this.
Driveway
We are still waiting to hear from Auckland Council on when our driveway will be replaced. This will be quite a large project once underway, but is desperately needed now when you look at the state of the carparking area adjacent to the tennis court.
Working Bee
The annual club working bee is this coming Saturday – 16 September. There are a range of tasks to be completed, ranging from cleaning windows, weeding gutters, hedge trimming, putting up pennants in the main lounge, etc. These are all tasks that the club cannot pay others to do – so your help is really needed. The more people we have, the faster we can get through everything.
Quiz Night
Our quiz night on 30 September is approaching fast. It is limited to 10 tables of 8 at $150 a table, and 7 have already sold. If you want to book one, email the club and let Terena know asap.
New Sponsor
Dayle Candy from Harcourts Milford is the club’s newest sponsor. Dayle, who is well known within the club’s squash community, will be working with the club to help with the annual squash club champs, as well as other selected activities over the course of the next 12 months.

Blue September
On Monday 11 September at our “men's night” tennis evening, we had a “Blue” night for prostate awareness. It was very interesting and helped promote conversation about a subject men normally don't even think about.
For more information about prostate awareness, https://blueseptember.org.nz/about-us/about-prostate-cancer/.
Even better, if you're over 40, go and have a checkup, soon.
Tennis News
This season we have 22 senior tennis teams – a fantastic increase on last year. Senior interclub draws have now been released by Tennis Northern and all team captains should be contacting their teams about their first games. All senior grades start within the next 2 weeks.
Midweek ladies teams have been finalised and competition starts after the school holidays.
Last weekend we had an amazing turnout at the junior tennis interclub trials – given the wintery weather. Geoff and Louise are now fitting everyone into teams as best they can. Final teams will be advised in early October – don’t forget that junior interclub practices start Monday 16 October, and Saturday coaching starts on 21 October at 9am.
In the next week or so the tennis courts will also be groomed and sprayed for moss.
With school holidays approaching, don’t forget Smash Tennis’ holiday programmes. Visit the website for more details.
Squash News
The junior squash club champs will be held in the last week of term starting Wednesday 27th September with finals on the 29th, subject to entries. Entry sheets are now up at the club and entries close on 24th September.
The senior squash club champs dates have changed and these will now be held 26-28 October.
Lastly, don’t forget Manu’s holiday squash programmes – details will be on the club notice boards.
Important Dates

And of course, a very big thanks to the following organisations who continue to give very generous support to the Club.
