President's Ramble
Squash lounge upgrade
The squash lounge upgrade is progressing well and is on track for completion by the end of March. Painting has started (and by the time you read this, could be finished), which just leaves carpeting and electrical fitout to go.
Many thanks to Mike Dahlberg and everyone else who has helped with this project – the result will look fantastic.
Club App
It’s great to see number of downloads of our new club App. Very soon this will be our primary means of communicating with members, so please make sure you download it asap.
The app also allows the following club sponsors to promote their products and services more directly to members:
- Belmont Pharmacy
- House of Travel Devonport
- The Village Butcher at Hauraki Corner
- Dixie Browns in Devonport, and
- Stirling Sports
For example, Dixie Browns in Devonport has a member special for all of March, with kids evening meals free for members (conditions apply).

Tennis News
Interclub
Most senior grades have only 3-4 matches to play and we have a number of teams in the top half of their ladders – well done. But it is the Women’s Singles third grade team captained by Cathy Coleman that are on top with one round to play before SF and Finals. Good luck ladies!
Saturday coaching
Our Saturday coaching programmes have seen a great turnout throughout February. It’s great to see how much the kids are enjoying themselves. Remember, the Term 1 programme finishes on Saturday 25 March.
Tennis club champs
Junior and Senior tennis club champs are also approaching. The junior tennis club champs will be played in the week commencing 27 March. We appreciate some junior teams may still have interclub matches during the week, so we will ensure the draws take this into account.
As mentioned last month, the senior club champs will start in early April, and subject to entries, will finish in early May after the World Masters Games. And don’t forget - On Friday 17 March from 6pm - join us at the Club for Happy Hour drinks to officially launch the Senior Tennis Club Championships.
Entry sheets for both competitions are up in the club house.
Ray and Aly Adams Mixed Doubles Tournament
A couple of weeks ago the annual R & A Adams MXD tournament was played. Eight pairs participated, including Jacqui Anderson and Ray Adams together, with some close fought matches played in both groups. In the final, Jill Stoker and Graeme Norman successfully retained the trophy, beating off Toni McKenty and Clive Morehu 61 75.
Midweek Ladies Graded Tournament
Our annual Ladies Day Grade Tournament will be held on Tuesday 28 March. If you are interested in playing, contact the club office for more information.
