Hopefully, we will have a strong turnout to this year’s AGM. I will give an update on progress with discussions with the Bowling Club about taking over some of their lease, as well as talk about the importance of the upcoming Strategic Planning process.
In addition, there is “Happy Half Hour” from 7 pm to reward you for your attendance!
Quiz Night
After many months of planning, we have found a date that doesn’t clash with rugby or a general election! We will be holding our ever-popular Quiz night on Saturday 30 September from 7 pm. As well as being a fun night out, we will be raising money for various junior-related causes, so put this date in your diary and get a table together.
Tickets are $20pp or $150 for a table of 8 and can be purchased by emailing the club. There are only 10 tables available, so be in quick to secure one.
Working Bee
On Saturday 16 September, we will be having a club working bee from 9 am. Some things around the club need to be maintained by club members, so please come and give an hour of your time to help keep our facilities in tip-top shape.
The more people we have help, the less time it will take!
Property Update from Edwin Killick at Bayleys
The North Shore residential property market recorded a median house price of $1,040,000 over the three months to May 2017, an increase of 1.5% or $15,000 over the corresponding period in 2016. The number of sales in the North Shore market was down 28.6% over the three months to May 2017 compared with the same period last year.
Following years of sharp increases, the Auckland residential market has cooled with value gains moderating as activity levels have fallen. The change in market conditions has been brought about by a general tightening of credit conditions and the Reserve Bank’s further restrictions on the investment sector, which has seen lending to investors falling by approximately 48% in June 2017 compared with June 2016.
While the market has softened, values remain at elevated levels. Looking ahead, the underlying fundamentals which triggered the unprecedented levels of value increases in the Auckland housing market over recent years, remain unchanged. Migration remains at record levels and new home construction continues to fall short of the numbers required. The market fundamentals therefore remain very strong and demand is being restrained only by restrictions on lending. Under these circumstances while activity levels will remain under pressure values remain well supported.
